Metso Outotec wins US$$11.8M casting shop orders

Finnish minerals processing technologies firm Metso Outotec has won orders for its anode casting shops for copper plants in China and Bulgaria, with a combined value of around 10 million (US$11.8 million)

The anode casting systems meet capacity ranges from 20 to 120 tons/hour

The copper production plant in China is forYangxinHongshengCopper, whichisconstructinga greenfield coppersmelterinHuangshi,Hubei, with operations expected tostart in 2021.

The order for Bulgaria will be shipped toAurubisBulgaria AD’s copper production plant inPirdop,Bulgaria, whichhas been operatingsince the end ofthe1950sandis a longtime customer of Metso Outotec.

“We areextremelypleasedto have wonthese twoimportantorders. Both shopswill feature two casting wheelsforhigh capacity and yield. They will also be equipped with advanced automation to ensurehighavailability and high casting accuracy to produce high quality anodes,” saysJari lgars, presidentof the Metals business area atMetso Outotec.

Both anode casting shopsareequipped with fully electric systems to improve mantainability, energy efficiency andsafety. The systems’ capacity ranges from 20 to 120 tonnesper hour.

The shopsare expected to be commissioned in 2021. The orders have been booked in MetsoOutotec’sQ3 2020 orders.
