President Director of PT Kapuas Prima Coal Tbk (ZINC), Harjanto Widjaja said, the completionof the company’s leadsmelterhas reached 99% and is entering the final stage, namely the handover process between ZINC and thesmeltercontractor experts.
“It is hoped that theleadsmeltercan operate commercially this year, with a maximum production capacity of 20,000 tons of lead metal per year,” said Harjantio to Kontan.co.id (3/6).
Meanwhile, thezincsmelterconstruction process isstill continuing.Harjanto noted that the progress of the construction of the project had reached around 80 percent as of February 2021.”It is expected to start operating at the end of 2022 with a production capacity of 30,000 tons of ingots per year,” said Harjanto.
Citing the company’s public expose in 2021, theZINC leadsmelterproject isestimated to require a total investment of US$ 15 million.The smelterwith a capacity of 40,000 tons of lead concentrate and 20,000 tons of lead bullion usespyrometallurgicaltechnology.
Meanwhile,ZINC’s zincsmelter isestimated to require a total investment of US$ 67 million.The smelterwith a capacity of 68,000 tons of zinc concentrate with a production output of 30,000 tons of ingots per year useshydrometallurgicaltechnologyin its processing.
