Jakarta, TAMBANG, Another step forward is shown in the downstream development of coal into Dimethyl Ether (DME).This time PTBA and PT Pertamina (Persero) signed aprocessing service agreement.This collaboration is related to coal gasification which is one of the government programs to increase national energy security.Meanwhile, the signing of the agreement was carried out virtually in Indonesia and the United States on Tuesday (11/5/2021) which was also attended by BUMN Minister Erick Thohir.
BUMN Minister Erick Thohir welcomed this cooperation.Erick considers coal gasification as an effort to improve the national economy in general.In addition to maximizing its potential, this project will also eliminate dependence on imported products, in this case LPG.
“Coal gasification has a direct added value to the national economy at a macro level.”It will save the trade balance, reduce dependence on LPG imports, and save foreign exchange reserves,” said Erick who attended the event from the United States, Tuesday (11/5).
He is also optimistic that this cooperation will provide great benefits in the midst of efforts to revive the national economy.Pertamina’s role as a company that is not only engaged in ensuring energy security but also becomes the motor to drive the energy industry so that it can continue to operate optimally.
“Of course we hope that this cooperation will be a part of the momentum for the revival of the national economy.By ensuring the availability of independent energy needs, we hope that the macro and micro sectors can continue to grow and become a pillar of the national economy, “said Erick.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources welcomes the coal gasification project.In addition to maximizing coal products, this project will also expand the energy sector in which Indonesia’s mission is to ensure national resilience and eliminate dependence on imported products.
