PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) was ranked among the top 56 coal companies worldwide in June 2022 by leading global financial data service provider, Refinitiv, which provides ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) assessment and scoring.
These results show that BUMI’s ESG disclosure performance is strong with a score of 84 (on a scale of 100). On their website, Refinitiv categorizes scores above 75 (Fourth Quartile) as an indication of relatively excellent ESG performance and a high level of transparency in reporting material ESG data to the public.
BUMI’s President Director, Adika Nuraga Bakrie, said that this achievement was due to BUMI’s commitment to run the business in a sustainable manner and to implement ESG consistently.

Refinitiv’s ESG score is designed to transparently and objectively measure a company’s relative ESG performance, commitment and effectiveness across 10 key themes (emissions, environmental product innovation, human rights, shareholders, etc.) based on publicly reported data.
Refinitiv’s ESG score measures a company’s ESG performance based on publicly verifiable data reports. The ESG score includes and quantifies more than 630 enterprise-level ESG measurements, of which some of the 186 most comparable and material per industry strengthen the overall enterprise assessment and valuation process.
Refinitiv is grouped into 10 categories that make up the three pillar scores and the final ESG score, which reflects the company’s ESG performance.
