Supporting renewable energy, INDY helps develop the electric vehicle ecosystem
PT Indika Energy Tbk ( INDY) is committed to supporting the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia which is in line with the development of new and renewable energy (EBT).One of INDY’s steps is to establish a company called PT Electra Mobilitas Indonesia (EMI) in early April.

According to Kontan’s records, INDY controls 99.9975% of PT EMI’s shares. The remaining 0.0025% is controlled by PT Indika Energy Infrastructure (IEI), which is also a subsidiary of INDY.INDY’s management has also mentioned that the existence of PT EMI is to develop and sell two-wheeled electric vehicles in the future.

Indika Energy’sHead of Corporate CommunicationRicky Fernando confirmed that so far PT EMI is still in the early stages of developing the electric motorcycle business. He did not explain when the development process would be completed, including when it will be produced and sold commercially.”We are still in the process of finalizing the business plan,” he added, Friday (11/5).

INDY’s management views that the prospect of electric vehicles, especially two-wheelers, is quite positive in the future. This is in line with the government’s plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.”Indika Energy’s target to achievenet zero carbonis in 2050,” continued Ricky.

For your information, INDY is indeed quite keen to diversify its business lately.Understandably, INDY targets to be able to increase the contribution of revenue from the non-coal sector to reach 50% by 2025.

To achieve this target, a number of initiatives were carried out by INDY.Among them are divesting coal assets, participating in the forestry business, and entering the EBT business, including electric vehicles.

In a previous report, Indika Energy’s President Director Arsjad Rasjid even said that since this year, INDY has begun to change the word energy into energizing Indonesia. This means that INDY has turned into an investment company with one of its themes remaining on energy, which focuses on the NRE sector.

Regarding EBT, INDY has collaborated with a company from India, Fourth Partner Energy (4PEL) to establish a joint venture company called PT Empat Mitra Indika Solar Power (EMITS).The company focuses on developing an integrated Solar Power Plant (PLTS) with an investment value of US$ 500 million during the period 2021-2025.
