PT Aneka Tambang (Persero) Tbk (ANTM) agreed to sign aFramework Agreement (FA) with a precursor manufacturer, CNGR Hong Kong Material Science & Technology Co., Ltd. (CNGR) to produce raw materials for electric vehicle batteries.
The signing is a follow-up to theHead of Agreement (HoA) for the development of downstream industrial estates for nickel ore into battery raw materials, which was previously agreed on August 5, 2022.
“The use of CNGR’s technology, Oxygen-Enriched Side-Blown Furnace or OESBF in nickel production lines is a form of commitment to support green development and carbon reduction efforts,” said Chairman of CNGR Deng Weiming through his statement, in Jakarta, Monday (21/11/2022).
Concept Electric Sport Motor The signing of the FA was carried out by Deng Weiming and Nico Kanter as President Director of Antam, at Singaraja Hall, Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center in a series of B20 forums, recently. Under the agreement, the two will jointly build an industrial park and develop a laterite nickel ore processing facility into matte nickel which is the raw material for electric vehicle batteries. The production process is carried out using OESBF technology.
Meanwhile, along with the construction of the smelter, Antam will provide sufficient supply of raw materials. Members of the mining holding are committed to supplying more than 50% of nickel ore needs in a 20-year production period as well as providing access to utilities supporting industrial estates.
“The cooperation between CNGR and Antam in increasing the added value of nickel products. We agreed to support the development of EV-based green energy through the synergy of applying the advantages of technology and resources owned by the two companies,” he said.
