President Director of PT Vale Indonesia, Febriany Eddy emphasized that the implementation of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) is important for the future of the Indonesian industry. This is because mining practices often raise concerns about environmental damage.

Moreover, in recent years nickel has become a prima donna commodity and has attracted a lot of attention. According to him, the company is committed to implementing environmentally friendly mining practices.

“ESG is part of us, and so the decisions we make must think about the impact of the ESG,” said Febriany at CNBC Indonesia’s “Nickel Conference 2023” in Jakarta, Tuesday (25/07/2023).

One of the proofs of Vale Indonesia’s ESG implementation is the construction of a US$ 1 billion hydro power plant. This project is expected to contribute to reducing emissions. The company also replants in the additional concession forest area.

“We are doing our best to reduce the carbon footprint of our mine, and have also rehabilitated the concession area three times as much as when we first started operating,” he said.
