PT Trimegah Bangun Persada Tbk or Harita Nickel opens up opportunities to export nickel sulfate to battery producing countries such as Korea and Japan.
Harita Nickel President Director Roy A. Arfandy said the company exports to all manufacturers that produce electric car batteries. “Not only to China, but a lot of electric car battery manufacturing is in China and most of our exports are to China,” said Roy at the OCBC Experience Supporting Indonesia to The Global Stage talk show in Jakarta, Tuesday.
Harita Nickel has previously exported to electric vehicle battery producing countries in China and India.
Roy said that currently nickel is not only used as stainless steel, but can be used as a material for making electric vehicle batteries.
“So nickel is very useful and is widely used for a very wide range of needs,” said Roy.
Meanwhile, in strengthening its business, the issuer codenamed NCKL continues to develop networks with global banks, such as OCBC so that it can carry out trade transactions with foreign countries or other prospective countries.
Previously, the company, through its associated entity PT Halmahera Persada Lygend (PT HPL), officially exported 5,584 tonnes of nickel sulfate packaged in 290 containers via ship to China on Friday (16/6).
Roy added that total shipments of nickel sulfate products will be targeted to reach 240,000 tons a year, according to the factory’s production capacity.
The export process is a new milestone for Harita Nickel in the nickel downstream business circle. The nickel sulfate is the result of refining on Obi Island, South Halmahera, North Maluku Province, which will later be used in the production of lithium batteries with high nickel content.
